Aryé-Yéhouda-Léo Motzkin

Aryé-Yéhouda-Léo Motzkin ( אריהיהודהליאומוצקין ) is one of the leaders of the movement Sioniste in Russia, and thereafter in the world.

He is born in Russia in 1867. He joined the rows of Herzl and takes part in the first Congrès Zionist. Sent by the movement Zionist in Palestine, it undertakes a study on the Yishouv. Motzkin sees in the combat for the right to the Juifs to defend their establishments a vital factor of the ideal Zionist.

During the First World War, Léo Motzkin directs the office of the movement Zionist of Copenhagen. Of 1925 with 1933, it fills the president's functions of the Conseil of the worker Zionist and those of president of 16th and 18th Congress Zionist.

He dies in 1933, and its body is transferred one year later to Jerusalem. The suburbs of Haïfa, Kiryat-Motzkin point out its memory.
