Arulenus Rusticus
Lucius Junius Arulenus Rusticus was a Roman politician of the 1st century.
He had exerted the tribunat in 66 and the Préture in 69: he was the friend of Pline the Young person and Tacite which speaks in praise of its talent and its virtues.
Stoical philosopher , he had been the friend of Thraséas and Helvidius Priscus and protected Dion from Prussia and Plutarque.
He showed his courage as of the reign of Néron: powerful orator at the time of the lawsuit of Thraséas, it had offered to him to oppose his Veto to the Sénatus-consulte which was to condemn it, but Thraséas refused in order to avoid to him unnecessarily putting its life in danger.
Under Domitien, it published a praise Thraséas. This book made it show Lèse-majesté in front of the Sénat: the capital punishment was marked against him, and its writing flaring with that of Senecio, which had published the praise of Helvidius Priscus.
His/her brother Junius Mauricius was banished in 93 by Domitien and was recalled by Nerva.
