Artur Rodziński

Artur Rodziński is a Leader Polish, born with Split on January 1st 1892 and died with Boston the November 27th 1958

Biography

It grows with Lviv (then in Austria-Hungary, today in Ukraine) where it studies the right to the university. In 1914, all the family moves with Vienna, where jointly in its studies, Rodzinski between with the Académie of music of Vienna. He learns the piano near Emil Sauer, the composition with Franz Schreker and the direction with Franz Schalk. In 1916, he becomes doctor in right.

After the First World War, it turns over to Lviv become Polish, and becomes leader with its first directed opera, Ernani of Verdi. In 1920, it is engaged with the Large Theater of Warsaw.

It decides to join the the United States to work with already celebrates Leopold Stokowski with Philadelphia, of 1925 with 1929. He becomes then chief of the Philharmonic orchestra of Los Angeles during four years, then of the Orchestre of Cleveland during ten years.

In 1935, it carries out first American opera Lady Macbeth de Mtsensk of Dmitri Chostakovitch of which he is an interpreter inspired - a recording of the Symphonie n° 5 with Cleveland east to be known for his diabolic tempos.

In 1937, it takes part, in New York, with the foundation of the Symphony orchestra of the NBC which it prepares for Arturo Toscanini.

In 1943, it is called with the direction of the prestigious Philharmonic orchestra of New York before finishing its career with Chicago in 1947.
