Artificial chemistry

The artificial chemistry is a Système created by the Homme and similar to the real chemical system.

This concept appeared in research on the artificial Vie, and more precisely on the emergence of the Vie. Certain scientists think that if the Vie appeared starting from the chemical reactions, then one must be able to reveal artificial Vie by simulating a chemical system.

It rests on the thesis of Alonzo Church and Alan Mathison Turing according to which all physical Système can be described by a universal Machine of Turing. If one regards the Vie as a physical Système, then it can emerge of a multipurpose machine within the meaning of Turing.

Steen Rasmussen started from this principle to describe its “programmable matter”
