Article 19 of the Constitution of the fifth French Republic

The article 19 of the Constitution of the fifth Republic determines the acts of the President of the French Republic which require a counter-signature Prime Minister or members of the Gouvernement. A contrario , it determines those of these acts which do not require such counter-signatures, i.e. which concerns only the chief of the President of the Republic.

The acts of the President of the Republic other than those envisaged with the articles 8 (1st subparagraph), 11, 12, 16, 18, 54, 56 and 61 are contresigned by the Prime Minister and, if necessary, by the responsible ministers.
