Arthur the retributive phantom
Origins
Arthur the retributive phantom is a series of cartoon created by Jean Cézard (drawing and scenario), appeared in the Vaillant n° 449 of the December 20th, 1953, that its author will draw for the newspaper Pif Gadget until his death in 1977.Contrasting by the simplicity of its forms with its feature meticulous person and detailed, Arthur the phantom is undoubtedly one of great successes of Jean Cézard thanks to whom it is remained in the memory of many readers of Conk Gadget. As well as the note Gerard Thomassian, the creation of this character marks a turning in his career since it gives up realistic then and that its later works will not concern any more but the comic kind: Rigolus and Tristus, Surplouf the small corsair etc
A return in the cartoon
Arthur, the ghost, lived new adventures lasting seven more years, between 1982 and 1988, in the pages of Conk Gadget, under the feather of a young draftsman, Mircea Arapu, impassioned by the work of Cézard.
