Arthur Hugh Garfit Alston
Arthur Hugh Garfit Alston is a British Botaniste , born the September 4th 1902 with West Ashby and dead the March 17th 1958 with Barcelona.
It obtains its Bachelor off Arts with Oxford in 1924, date on which it enters as assistant to the herbarium preserved the royal Botanical gardens of Kew. It directs the Botanical garden of Peradeniya to Ceylon of 1925 to 1930. He becomes member of the Société linnéenne of London in 1927.
Alston becomes assistant-chief with the British Museum in 1930 where it specializes on the Ptéridophyte S, particularly those pertaining to the Selaginella . It makes several voyages of herborizing: in Ceylon, in Central America of 1938 with 1939 and in Indonesia of 1953 with 1954. It chairs British Pteridological Society of 1947 1958.
It makes off appear a supplement with the Flora Ceylon of Henry Trimen (1843-1896) in 1931. Alston is also the author of Kandy Flora (1938), Ferns and Fern-combine West Tropical Africa off (1959). It directs the review British Fern Gazette of 1937 to 1949. Its collections are preserved by the British Museum like at the Natural history museum of Wales.
