Arthur Bernède

Arthur Bernède (1871 - 1937) is a French popular author very prolix novels of adventures and detective novels. He wrote nearly 200 novels of adventures and history, and created several hundreds of romantic characters of which some very famous, like Belphégor , Judex , or Mandrin which erased their creator. He also put in scene Vidocq, inspired by the exploits of this high chief of Safety colors.

Biography

He was born the January 5th 1871, with Redon in Ille-et-Vilaine. His/her father, who was called also Arthur Bernède , was a Rentier impassioned agriculture, his/her mother was called Laure of the Rock of Périgne and his/her grandfather had been prosecutor of the king and friend of Surcouf. Arthur knew a happy childhood in the beautiful family home at the edge of the channel from Nantes to Brest, and became graduate in 1889 after brilliant studies with the college of Eudistes, Saint-Saver with Redon, during which he wrote pieces of poetry and poems.

In 1890, attracted by a lyric career, it went up to Paris to make its classes with the academy there, and it had as professors Gabriel Fauré and Benjamin Godard. The evening, with the coffee of the Gold Sun , place Saint-Michel, it accompanied with the piano by the initial chansonniers. With leaving the Academy, it successfully began a promising career from lyric singer, but it was victim of vocal accident which him interdisit from now on the lyric career of which it dreamed.

He reconverts himself then as a librettist and took part in the creation of several operas, comic operas and lyric parts (see (1). He wrote also some plays and of the monologs (see (2)).

In 1894, it made a first marriage and had a girl. He will divorce in 1900 and will remariera himself in 1910. Of 1897 with 1901, it worked with the Town hall of Paris, but it was returned, after a diplomatic scandal.

As of 1906, Arthur Bernède was convinced of the importance that was going to take the cinema and he wrote the scenario of two films made by Louis Aubert: Fleur of Paris with Mistinguett and Unmarried mother . Until 1930, it will carry to the screen more than twenty others of its books (see (3)).

In 1919, it founded with Gaston Leroux and Rene Navarre the Société of Cinéromans to compete with serial films whose mode came from the the United States. He was the literary director, took part in the setting in scene, carried out the locations of the places and took part for it in turnings.

He wrote many popular novels, more than one hundred, which were published in serial in the popular newspapers of which Small Parisian the, the Morning and Paris-Evening (see (4)).

He was also a dreaded polemist, in November 1921, he involved with him the three quarters of the spectators of the Opera, by leaving the room after having made his comments with high voice on the spectacle in progress. During the summer 1928, it joins together eleven thousand signatures of Breton on a petition against the bad condition of the roads and multiplied the conferences. He also fought for a righter recognition of the rights of the authors and for the restoration of the Société of the Men of letters.

He wrote 243 works officially, but he also made some publications under names of author, like Roland d' Albret and Jean of Perigne . Arthur Bernède died the March 20th 1937 of an heart attack after having made a speech in front of the Société of the Men of letters. It is buried with the cemetery of Haÿ-the- thePinks.
