Arsenate

The arsenates are mineral rare, Toxique S in certain forms (some contain Plomb in addition to the Arsenic which they all contain).

One especially finds them in the zone of Oxydation of the metalliferous layers. They are formed there at the expense of the Sulfure S, sulfo-arsenides and of the Arséniure S.

One counts a score of species of it.

Examples:

  • Adamite : Zn2OHAsO4.
  • Aerugite : Ni6 (AsO4) 2AsO6.
  • Bayldonite : Pb Cu3 (AsO4) 2 (OH) 2 H2 0
  • Cornubite: Cu5 (AsO4) 2 (OH) 4·H2O
  • Euchroïte (or hydrated copper arsenate: Cu2 (AsO4) (OH) .3H2O
  • Scorodite: Fe (AsO4) .2H2O
  • Krautite: Mn2+ (AsO3OH). H2O
  • Olivenite: Cu2 (AsO4) (OH)
