Ars-on-Formans

Ars-on-Formans is a common French, located in the department of the Ain and the area the Rhone-Alps.

Located at the north of Lyon.

Geography

The village is located in the south-eastern part of the Département of Ain, in the north of Lyon (33 km) and Borough-in-Bresse (45 km), in the middle of the area of the known Dombes for its many ponds. Ars-on-Formans is established on the plate of Dombes while in the west it borders, the rich person slopes of the valley of the Saone. A small river, Formans, crosses the commune.

the Basilica of Ars, built fine 19th century by the Lyons architect Bossan and his successor, in extension of the old church, shelters the body remained intact of Saint Jean-Marie Vianney, the Curé saint of Ars, owner of all the priests. This place of pilgrimage accommodates 450.000 people per annum, come from the whole world. In addition to the Basilica, the pilgrim will be able to visit the house of the Saint and the vault containing the relic of his heart, and to view film recalling his life and his message. The reception and the spiritual animation of the sanctuary are ensured by the priests of the sanctuary, the congregation of the Bénédictines of the Sacred Heart of Montmartre and the Brothers of the Holy Family of Belley.

in June, Mass and Procession of the festival God in the village;
on August 4th (birthday of died of the Saint): celebrates of the Saint Cleaned (Laudes, solemn Messe, Procession, worship of Blessed Sacrament, Vêpres, concert of sacred music;
on December 8th: celebrates Immaculate Conception, illumination of the village and animations.
