Whereas thunder with far the cannonades from the First World War, Julien is invited by Jacques, his friend, in a villa with Bray. Jacques is not there, but Julien is accommodated by an young woman who awaits it.The meeting between Jacques and Julien will finally never take place. The following day, Julien reads in the newspaper which the squadron of Jacques was retained due to bad weather. Is this reality, or Jacques died, and who the article is a censure camouflaging a more serious version of the facts? The spectator can legitimately put the question, the more so as the censure imposed on the newspapers is discussed at the beginning of film between Julien and a passenger of his train. Perhaps also that it is Jacques himself who decided not to come to go, in order to leave Julien alone with the mysterious maidservant. These questions will find answer only in the imagination of the spectator.
Comment
Go to Bray belonged to these films who leave a broad place to the imagination of the spectator. Delvaux illustrates with the screen all the smoothness of the writing of Gracq.
