Arosa
Arosa is a common Suisse of the canton of the Grisons, located in the District of Plessur.
Geography
The station of Arosa is located at 15 kilometers as the crow flies in the south-east of Coire, at the bottom of the valley of Schanfigg, on the higher course of the Plessur river. The village itself extends over a 2 kilometers length.
History
The area is populated since XIIIe century. The Araus toponym appears in 1330. The Walser settle at the beginning of XIVe century and drive out the population rhéto-romanche there. Until the XIXe century, Arosa remains an isolated agricultural village, no road not borrowing the valley of Plessur. A sanatorium opens in 1888 and the village opens with tourism at the beginning of the XXe century.
Economy
The economy of common rests on tourism, with 35 hotels and 16 ski lifts.

Personalities
Thomas Mann lived in Arosa during the first week of its exile in Switzerland.
Sports
HC Arosa was champion Swiss of hockey-on-ice with nine recoveries. In addition, the station organizes the championships of the world of snowboard in 2007.
