Arnoul Ier de Chiny

Arnoul Ier de Chiny , dead the April 16th 1106, was count de Chiny. It was wire of Louis II, count de Chiny.

It succeeded his father before 1066. It had the many ones démélés with the monks, in particular with the bishop of Liege Henri. In 1084, it tried to capture Richilde de Hainaut, but failed. In 1070, it had founded the abbey of Orval with Conrad Ier of Luxembourg, but it had to found other religious establishment, in atonement of its many crimes.

Marriage and children

He had married Adélaïs or Adelaide, girl of Hildouin IV of Montdidier, count de Roucy and of Ramerupt, and Alix de Roucy, who gave rise to:
  • Otton II, count de Chiny
  • a girl, who was the mother of Arnulf, archdeacon with Trêves
  • Hedwige, married to Dodo, lord of Idiots.

It would have had one second wife, whose history did not retain the name, which was mother of:
