Arnoldo Mondadori Editore

The Arnoldo Mondadori Editore is a Italian publisher . Since August 2006, it took the control of the third editor of French press, Emap France , renamed Mondadori France.

History

Founded in 1907 by Arnoldo Mondadori with Ostiglia. It began its activity by publishing the newspaper Luce! .

In 1932, it obtains Walt Disney the right to publish stories of Mickey Mouse, initially of the translations then stories produced especially in Italy, in a magazine called Topolino , the Italian name of the mouse.

The Mondadori group is today held to 50,24% by Fininvest, a holding of Silvio Berlusconi and is chaired by Marina Berlusconi (girl of Silvio).

A giant of the media in Europe

In 2004, Mondadori carried out turnovers of 1,65 billion euros, including 862,6 million for the press magazine (editor source). In Italy, the group publishes the magazines Panorama , TV Sorrisi E Canzoni , Economy , Donna Moderna , Chi, Flair , Cosmopolitan … It holds 70% of the book publisher for children Edizioni Piemme (28 million euros of turnover in 2003, Mondadori source). Mondadori holds 40% of Greek the magazine press group Attica Publications (77 million euros of turnover in 2003, Mondadori source).

In 2006, it bought the French subsidiary company (Emap France) of the British press group Emap plc. for 545 million euros.

The head office, Fininvest, also hold 38% of the audio-visual group Mediaset which has the television channels Canale 5, Rete 4, Italia 1. This one carried out 3,44 billion euros of turnover in 2004.
