Arnold and Willy

Arnold and Willy ( Diff' rent Strokes ) is a American Televised series in 189 25 minutes episodes, created by Bernie Kukoff, Jeff Harris, Herbert Kenwith and diffused between the November 3rd 1978 and the August 30th 1986 on the network NBC. In France, the series was diffused starting from the October 3rd 1982 on TF1. With the Quebec, it was diffused with VAT.

Synopsis

Philip Drummond, a New Yorkean widowed rich person, president of the company Trans Allied Inc. , adopts two black and poor children, Arnold and Willy, following the promise made with their mother that it employed as servant.

  • In the beginning, Arnold was not to have of brother, controlling it was to be young person and sexier and the diffusion of the series was to be done on ABC. Finally diffused by NBC after some hesitations, ABC repurchases the rights after the stop of the series after the 7th season for an ultimate year before stopping it in its turn. Gary Coleman wanted to stop besides playing Arnold but remade it a last year for ABC. New credits were recorded by Alan Thicke.
  • Diff' rent Strokes , the original title, comes from the American expression different strokes for different folks , which is the equivalent of the French expression each one its tastes .

  • In 1984, Dana Plato had to leave the series because of its pregnancy, because it was impossible that its character (Virginia) is also pregnant. It however reappeared in four episodes after the birth of her son.
