Arno Rafael Minkkinen
Arno Rafael Minkkinen (born on June 4th, 1945 with Helsinki in Finland) is a American Photographe.
Biography
Arno Rafael Minkkinen suffers with the birth from a congenital disease (“nozzle of hare”) which obliges it to undergo an surgical operation as of the first months. A few years after her birth, in 1951, its family emigrates with the the United States, in the Bensonhurst district of Brooklyn, with New York. In 1963, it enters to the Université Wagner to study philosophy and the religion there. His/her father dies brutally in 1966. He remains in Finland the following year. It Marie in 1969.
It enters an advertizing agency at the same time. He learns photography at Ken Heyman and John Benson. He attends the photographic mediums and progressively develops his sensitivity of his meetings with artists like Ralph Gibson, Harry Callahan, Aaron Siskind, Minor White, Lisette Model… Its first exposure takes place in 1972 in a gallery of Soho. It is invited to give courses in a school of design of Helsinki of 1974 to 1976. Its first monograph Frostbite is published in 1978 by Morgan & Morgan.
Its first wire, Daniel Hughes, are born in 1979.
Its work primarily consists of Autoportrait S in black and white where its body is integrated in nature.
