Arnaville is a common French, located in the department of Meurthe-et-Moselle and the area Lorraine. Village of 609 inhabitants located at the confluence of Rupt-in-Mad and of the Moselle, to 171 m of altitude it is lowest of Meurthe-et-Moselle. District of Toul, canton of Thiaucourt, it integrates the regional park of Lorraine. approximately 550 hectares within a green and undulating framework with less than 20 km of the center of Metz.
This commune was a village-border with Germany between 1871 and 1914.
The commune is gathered several different districts. Main street is the major axis: primarily made up of prewar old houses. the Place of the church whose residences are oldest. the very recent Street of Gorze : all the properties are second home built mainly in the years 1970.
First mention of the village in 851 under the name of " Arnoldi" villa; , then Arnaldivilla until the end of the 12th century when " appears; Arnavilla". Arnaville depended partly on Lorraine and partly of the Earth of Gorze (King de France) and, was entirely incorporated in the duchy of Lorraine only in 1718 until 1766. The treaty of Frankfurt in 1871 place la Franco-German border between Arnaville and Novéant in north, where had " place; the Schneebelé" business; in April 1887. Not defended the village is annexed as of the first day of the conflict of 1914-1918. First use of smoke-producing by the American army to protect crossing from the Moselle in September 1944.
