Arnaud Guillaume de Barbazan

Arnaud Guillaume (Arnault Guilhem) of Barbazan , lord of Barbazan, born in 1360 with Barbazan-Top (Hautes-Pyrénées), died in 1431 with Bulgnéville - Vaudoncourt (the Vosges) is to advise and first Chambellan Dolphin Charles VII French and captain during the Guerre One hundred Year old.

It is called the “knight without reproaches”. During the Civil war between Armagnacs and Burgundian, it takes party for the Armagnacs, is a fervent supporter of the Dolphin and the sworn enemy of the Bourguignons. It defended Melun into 1420 vis-a-vis the English and was made there prisoner by the latter. Slackened in 1430, it again fought the English and the Burgundian ones for finally falling to the combat in the the Vosges in Lorraine not far from Bulgnéville and of Vaudoncourt.

From its important facts of weapons and its heroic control towards the France and its king at the time of the many battles to which it took share, Barbazan accepted after its death the badge honor to be buried with St-Denis at the side even of its king by receiving funeral identical to those which one held to the monarchs.
