Arnaldo Otegi
Arnaldo Otegi is militant a Basque Indépendantiste. He is the spokesperson of Batasuna. (July 6th 1958 with Elgoibar).
It was born in Elgoibar, locality of the province of the Gipuzkoa to the Spanish country-Basque. He is laid off in Philosophie and letters. He is married and father of two children.
Militant of Euskadi your Askatasuna (ETA), it exiled himself in France in 1977. Expelled decree then, it is given to the Spanish authorities in 1987. He is judged with Madrid and is condemned to six years of imprisonment. He is released in 1990.
At the time of the elections at the Parliament of Gasteiz in October 2004, it obtains the seat of member of Parliament separatist. In 1997, he is elected member of the provisional direction of the party Herri Batasuna, to mitigate the imprisonment of the persons in charge of this political training.
September 12th, 1998, Otegi takes part in the signature of the agreements of " Lizarra-Garazi" and is again elected parliamentary with the autonomic elections of October 1998, under the initials of Euskal Herritarrok (EH). After the successive illégalisations of Herri Batasuna, Euskal Herritarrok and Batasuna, it makes known in November 2004 the proposal of Anoeta, in which the independence left exposes its bases for the resolution of the conflict in Basque Country.
The courts filed several proceedings against Arnaldo Otegi, of which some for apologies for the Terrorisme. That was worth a imprisonment in the 2005 to him and one on April 27th, 2006 for one 15 month duration.
He is again imprisoned since June 2007.
