Army of the Danube
The armed with the Danube is one of the armed with the Republic, which were illustrated against united Europe.
Creation and changes
- being based on a decree of the Directory of March 2nd, 1799, the general Jourdan gives on March 7th to the army of Observation the denomination of army of the Danube.
- By decree of April 21st, 1799 (2 floréal year VII), put at execution on April 29th, the Armée with Helvétie is removed and joined together with the army of the Danube.
- By decrees of the June 7th and 13rd 1799, put pursuant to the from July 18th to 20th, the army of the Danube is divided into Armée with the Rhine and armed with the Danube.
- By decree of November 24th, 1799 (3 frimaire year VIII), the armies of the Rhine and the Danube are joined together into only one pennies the denomination of army of the Rhine.

Principal feats of arms
The armed with the Danube , made up under the orders of Jean-Baptiste Jourdan, enters to shift at the beginning of 1799, crosses Seychelles and tries to seize the upstream reservoir of the the Danube. The archduke Charles manages to stop it and, after the departure of Jean-Baptiste Jourdan, to drive back it on the the Rhine as of April. André Masséna is put at the head of amée of the Danube which, joined together with that of Helvétie manages to push back the Austrians and the Russians after the victory of Zurich. (1799).Campaigns
