Army of the Center
The armed with the Center is one of the armed with the young French Republic.
It was created on December 14th, 1791 by order of the king, and was confined in Champagne. It had only one transitory existence and disappeared after the cannonade from Valmy and the evacuation from the territory by the Prussians.
As its name indicates it, it occupied the center of the French device on the border of north and the east, between the armed with North and of the Rhine, 3rd and the 4th military divisions with its creation, then also the 2nd division starting from March 23rd.
By decree of the Convention of October 1st, 1792, it became the Armée with the Moselle. It until November 7th, 1792 preserved however the denomination of army of the Center as long as Kellermann remained at its head, i.e.

- from July 12th to September 1st, 1792: marshal Luckner, with the command higher on the Armed with the Rhine
- from September 2nd to November 7th, 1792: general Kellermann, subordinated to the general Dumouriez starting from September 19th.
