Army of the Ardennes
The armed with the Ardennes was created officially in October 1792 starting from the right wing of the Armée with North, ordered July in August 1792 by Fayette. It is the general Dumouriez which employed wrongly, during August, July and September, the name of army of the Ardennes to indicate the line of the army of North, camped under Sedan, and that of army of North to speak about the left of this army
Creation and changes
- It was created by decree of the Convention of October 1st, 1792, and formed of the right wing of the Armée with North
- Réorganisée by decree of the Executive council of March 1st, 1793, alone its right wing preserves the name of army of the Ardennes
- By decree of the Executive council of October 5th, 1793 (11 vendémiaire year II), the 1st division is built-in the army of North
- By decree of the Convention of June 29th, 1794 (11 messidor year II), it forms, with the left of the Armée with the Moselle and the line of the Armée with North, the Armée with Sambre-and-Meuse

- from October 1st to December 29th, 1792: general Dumouriez, immediately the left with the higher command on the Armed with North
- from October 6th to 24th, the line is at the disposal of the general Kellermann
- from October 13rd to 20th, by interim the left: general Beurnonville
