Army Black Knights is a club general sports university of the Military academy of West Point to West Point (New York). The teams of Black Knights take part in the university competitions organized by the National Collegiate Athletic Association. Army evolves/moves in Patriot League. Member of the Conference the USA until in 2004, the football team American plays from now on with an independent statute with a statute DI-A while the team of hockey is in Atlantic Hockey.
The most famous team of Black Knights is that of American football which was national champion twice (1944 and 1945). Moreover, Doc. Blanchard (1945), Glenn Woodward Davis (1946) and Pete Dawkins (1958) was honoured with a Heisman Trophy.
The team evolves/moves with the Michie Stadium, enclosure of 40.000 places inaugurated in 1924.
The competition with the Air Force and the Navy is illustrated by the installation of an abstract trophy in American football: “to order in Chief' S Trophy”. Black Knights gained 6 trophies (1972, 1977,1984,1986,1988 and 1996) in 34 editions.
