The Armorican is a bovine Race French.
Origin
It was born in Brittany with at the XIXe century with part of the Pie red of Carhaix, of the Froment of the Leon and the Shorthorn.In the Sixties, the herd underwent a massive contribution of MRY to improve its dairy performances. This introduction of exogenic blood created the Pie red of the plains. It would have fatal being with Armorican without the tenacity of some stockbreeders. It is today again present at the catalog of the French races and profits from a program of safeguarding. Manpower turn around 150 individuals and the race remains in danger of extinction.
Morphology
It wears a mottled red dress of white on the level of the belly and clear mucous membranes. The horns while growing are turned forwards. The cow weighs 650 kg for a size of 1,38 Mr.
Qualities
It is a mixed race which produces 4500 liters of milk by lactation and is easy to fatten. It is rustic in zone of thin pastures, but can be coleric.Notes and references of the article
