Armand of Melun
Armand of Melun , born in 1807 and died in 1877, is a French politician, of catholic tendency social, and collaborator of M {{gr.}} Affre.
In 1843 he was appointed Ille-et-Vilaine. It is by the sister Rosalie (1787 - 1856) that Melun knew the poor wretches living conditions of the workmen. He was one of the founders of the " Company of economy charitable" and of a newspaper Annals of charity (1847).
" In 1850 and 1851, it is the catholic Armand Viscount of Melun which makes vote the first large train of social laws: unsanitary housings, pension fund, offense of wear, legal aid, hospital assistance, apprenticeship contracts. In 1852, it is the same one which writes the decree legalizing and developing the great movement mutualiste" (Jean Dumont, the Church with the risk of the history , foreword of Pierre Chaunu of the Institute, Editions of Paris, Ulis 2002, p. 115-116).
March 26th, 1852 he was the author of a decree on the mutual aid associations.
September 28th, 1864 it took part in the law on the right to strike and of coalition.
