Armand-Octave-Marie d\' Allonville

Armand-Octave-Marie, Viscount of Allonville was born the January 21st 1809 with Hanover and deceased the October 19th 1867 with Versailles.

The Viscount Armand-Octave-Marie d' Allonville, born emigrated parents, acquires the reputation to be one of the best officers of cavalry, in Algeria and the Crimea and is named Major general. At the end of its life it is Senator, president of the committee of cavalry and grand' cross of the Legion of honor.

Its family

Armand-Octave-Marie d' Allonville was born from the Viscount Antoine Jean Baptiste of Allonville of Oysonville (October 19th, 1765 - September 1811 London), knight of Midsummer's Day of Jerusalem, received minority, not profès, between as second lieutenant with the regiment of Artois cavalry, in 1780. Named captain with the Regiment of Quercy-cavalry, in 1784, it is submitted to the court, with his older brother, on January 21st, 1788. During the Revolution, he becomes major with the service of the Portugal. Antoine marries Céleste Octavie of the Bourdonnaye-Lira (1790-1851), on February 3rd, 1807 (allied family with the Of Guesclin).

Armand-octave is the last descendant of a family, of old knighthood, originating in the Chartrain country, where it had, unmemorable time, until the year 1475, the ground and seigniory of its name, enjoyed the honors of the court in the person of three of her members, in the years 1787 and 1788, on evidence received by Chérin. She produced a large panetier of France, captain of one hundred lances; a large Master of National Forestry Commission, governors of the towns of Meulan, Montlhéry, Senonches, Chartres, Blois, Stamps, Courtrai, Navarreins. And especially, several chamberlains and gentlemen of the room of the kings and princes of the house of France, the king Philippe V of Spain, and a Duke of Savoy; several riders of stable of the king, a first rider of the Constable of Bourbon and one of the duke of Anjou and Alençon; lieutenants and an ensign of the companies of men-at-arms of the made up ordinances gentlemen; a deputy of the nobility to the General states of Orleans and Blois, in 1560 and 1588; a member of the Academy of Science of France and royal company of London. Without forgetting, a knight crossed in the year 1190; several knights of Saint-Jean-of-Jerusalem, Rhodos and Malta, including two of the name of Pierre, in 1524 and 1547; four knights about the king or Saint-Michel, before the establishment of that of the Holy Spirit; and, lastly, several colonels, brigadiers, knights of Saint-Louis, general and Officers of the Legion of Honor.

Biography

Its youth

The Viscount of Allonville, after brilliant studies with the School of application of the royal Body staff, enters in 1830 the weapon of the cavalry; in 1832 it attends the Siège of Antwerp, in 1832, in the capacity as aide-de-camp of the general Rulhière.

The Conquest of Algeria (1838 - 1845)

Since 1838, Armand-Octave-Marie d' Allonville is named ordering irregular indigenous bodies of the province of Algiers. He is major of the Spahis of the province of Algiers.

Armand-Octave-Marie d' Allonville takes share of 1839 with 1848, in the campaigns against Abd-el-Kader; in front of Candle, with the business of Chéliff, the combat of Bou-Roumi, Milianah.

Of' Allonville the reputation of the one of the best officers of cavalry of our army of Africa acquires. One decorates it with the cross of officer of the Légion of Honor at the time of the Prise of the tribe of Abd El Kader by the duke of Aumale, in 1845. It is mentioned for its brilliant control with the Bataille of Isly, on August 14th, 1844. It seizes the guns of the Morrocans.

Armand-octave of Allonville is commander of a brigade of the division of cavalry of reserve of the army from Paris, in Versailles. Thus its units will take an active part in the Coup d'etat of December 2nd, 1851. Its participation is thus essential and the fact that he is putschists will push large many officers to be acted in the same way. Armand-octave of Allonville is member of the Committee of staff the 3/17/55. He becomes president of the Committee of Cavalry, is member of the General advice of Ille-et-Vilaine.
