Armagh is a city in Northern Ireland, the chief town of old the Comté of Armagh and District of Armagh, which recovers only one the central third of the county. One calls the city in Irish Ard Mhacha , or “Heights of Macha”. Since 1994, Armagh has officially the statute of city
The two cathedrals with Armagh are the seats of the archbishops roman catholic and Anglican (Église of Ireland), both titrated “Archbishop of Armagh” and “Primacy of All Ireland”.
The ruins of the fort of Navan, adjacent at the city, were formerly the capital of the Ulster, known under the Irish name of Eamhain Mhacha .
The population of the district, at the time of the census of 2001, was of: 54263 inhabitants. The district was then Protestant with 50,0%, and catholic with 48,7%.
