History of the chain
Beginnings
The files of the chain go back at the latest to September 5th, 1955, dates to which the Council of Ministers of the Soviet Union decides the construction of 27 centers of programs and 5 television broadcast stations in the republics. Consequently, construction begins from the station on the hill of Nork to Erevan and it is under the supervision of the directing first of the chain, Nerses Kagramanov, that creates for itself a committee managing the recruitings. The diffusion of the programs begins the November 29th 1956, day of the sovietization of the country. It is Nara Shlepchyan, first Speakrine of the chain, which opens the ball. A film and a concert follow. It is one month later, for the festivals of end of the year that the chain produces its first emission.
The grand opening of the chain takes place the February 9th 1956, date on which the programs are diffused in a regular way. The first times, they were two hours daily, four days per week, filmed most of the time into live by the two only cameras of the studio. The end of the year 1957 sees the first realization of a film and February 1958, the beginning of the daily Tv news. At that time, the programs are emitted only in one radius of 60 kilometers around the capital.
Evolution of the decades 1970 and 1980
In 1968, at the time of the 2.750 years celebration of the town of Erevan, concert a one hour and half being held with Erebouni is diffused simultaneously in the USSR and Europe of the East. The year 1973 sees the introduction of the color and thus, the parade of the 1er May of this same year is retransmise on line and color of the place Lénine. In 1974, progress of technology and the increase in the means allow the extension of the diffusion to many areas as well as the creation of one second chain of State. In 1977, the Armenian population is equipped with 500.000 stations (in 100.000 color) and the old sending antenna is not enough any more. It is replaced, the November 29th, by a news tower 311 meters height and part of the equipment is renewed. Moreover, the satellite Orbita 2 makes it possible to also receive the programs of Russian television since Moscow. In the middle of the Years 1980, 99% of the population has access to the 13,5 hours of program daily of the Armenian chains.
The events of the Haut-Karabagh and the desire of independence of the year 1988 require of the direction and of the journalists of the chain of retransmettre the events in the most objective possible way, in spite of the pressures of Moscow. The June 15th, Arménie 1 retransmet on line the session of the Supreme Soviet of the Soviet socialist Republic of Arménie, an event in the Soviet Union of then. Occurs then the seism of December 7th, obliging the journalists to go to the site and to cover one of the most dramatic events of the republic.
After independence
Into 1990, the political power changes into Arménie and in September, under decision of the Prime Minister, is named for the first time at the head of the department of radio and television, nona Communiste, Henrik Hovhannisyan. It will have the role the reorganization of the programs and the structure of the chain, essential to the sight of the events of the time. The evolution of the interior policy changes also the request of the spectators and it is more and more of programs of variety which are diffused. With lindépendance, on September 21st, 1991, continuous Armenian public television to create new emissions and a daily newspaper, Haylour , is created. The law voted then authorizing the private channels, therefore competition, Arménie 1 informs most objectively possible and without pressures the country. But in same time, the very severe economic crisis which strikes the country until the medium of the Années 1990 cancels the progress made since its beginnings. Indeed, the 2 or 3 hours daily of electricity are not enough to provide programs of quality and the material, not maintained fault means, ends up releasing.
In 1992, the chain conveys all the same material for the ground of the Guerre of Haut-Karabagh and thus covers all the events on the spot. However, with the end of the year 1993, the situation is désatreuse: the audiences do not exceed any more 27,4% and financial means and technical ones are absent. At this point in time the government and of the private assistances offer successively 200.000 and 240.000 dollars, but the difficulties do not disappear until in 1998, with the arrival of a new president to the head of the chain, Tigran Naghdalyan. Its desire to change the things, to offer information and programs of quality bear their fruits quickly. In 1999, the diffusion is extended to Europe and in 2001 to North America.
Since 2001, year when the government makes vote a law on the role of the television of State, Arménie 1 is public television and adopts new a Logotype, always used today.
