Ariste Jacques Found-Chauvel is a French politician born the October 29th 1805 (17 brumaire year 14) with the Suze-on-Sarthe he is deceased the October 14th 1883 with Paris at the 77 years age.

Biography

He is the son of Rene Trouvé, commercial tanner, and of Anne Dorizon. After brilliant studies which lead it of Suze to Mans, then with Rennes and Angers, it is graduate Special School of Trade of Paris and is initiated with the businesses in several firms of the Havre, then in England and Scotland. It installs in Mans in 1831 a cloth trade, fabrics and of muslin street Royale (now street of Tiny).

It Marie on April 3rd, 1834 with the Mans with Justine Louise Chauvel, of which he will add the patronym to his. It is at the time of its marriage that it launches out to full in a double career with business man and public figure:

  • since 1834, it launches out in policy;
  • in 1838, it creates the Bank Commercial, Industrielle and Agricultural of the the Sarthe, of which he becomes the director;
  • in 1842, it finances the Movable Mutual insurance company against the fire. ;
  • in 1847, it creates the company of River navigation of the West;
  • it directs the Courrier of the Sarthe , publication republican, whose editor association is his friend, the journalist and scholar Jean-Barthelemy Hauréau;

He is initially member of the Municipal council of Mans in 1834. Re-elected in 1839, it enters to the General advice the same year, and becomes Maire of Mans on March 19th, 1840. He has been mayor only for three years, when on August 12th, 1843, he for this reason owes haranguer the duke of Nemours, wire of the king Louis-Philippe Ier of passage to Mans. Giving up the ordinary phraseology of the official congratulations, it makes hear a male and patriotic language, evoking " duties of the princes towards the people and the guarantees that it is necessary for them to grant for the exercise of the libertés". The effect of this speech is such as the irritated government pronounces its revocation. Fifteen days later, in spite of a triumphal re-election, the authority is opposed to its nomination, and it is in the capacity as mayor-assistant that it preserves the direction of the city of Mans.

The Second Republic, brought by the revolution of 1848, makes known with Found-Chauvel its apogee, and also its decline. The Revolution of February enables him to find its post of mayor, and to become general Commissaire of the Republic for the Sarthe, then for the Maine-et-Loire and the Mayenne. In April, at the time of the elections of the National Assembly, he is elected Député, chief candidate of the Sarthe. He votes with the Parliament with the members of the moderated Republican party, and, after the day of May 15th, 1848, he succeeds Caussidière like Prefect of police of Paris, where he attempts to employ the least possible of secret funds. July 15th it is replaced by Ducoux to become Préfet of the Seine, and, on October 25th, it is named Minister for Finance government Cavaignac. It will remain it until December 20th, 1848. Daumier caricatures it bending under an empty bag, apostrophized by “and the treasure of France have it Trouvé Chauvel! ”

October 21st, 1848, it obtains that the definite location of the railway Paris-Rennes passes by Mans, then in competition with Alençon.

Opposed to Louis-Napoleon Bonaparte, elected on December 10th, 1848 with the presidency of the Republic, it is carried by the vague Bonapartist. Beaten with the elections, it is folded up with Suze where it directs the family Tannerie. With the advertisement of the Coup d'etat of December 2nd, 1851, believer with a durable opposition to Paris, it raises and arms his two hundred tanners. But the business turns short and it is constrained with the exile (Jersey, London, Brussels in 1852), during which it meets Victor Hugo on several occasions. It is him which will start the negotiations with London editors for the publication of the book " December 2nd " of this last. It gains Constantinople where it creates a House of Bank and Trade.

Returned in Paris, he dies in the lapse of memory.
