Biography

Arid, although impassioned music since their more young age, started on late the music, at the dawn of the adulthood. The group was formed around Jasper Steverlinck, David Dupre and Filip Ros, which all were entered the working life at the time to form the group.

In the middle of the years 1990, Dupre formed its first instrumental group, Voltashop, with Filip Ros. Of dimensioned sound, Steverlinck sang in Kaya, a group which did not carry out nowhere. They met and David, dazzled by vocal qualities To marble, proposed to him the post of singer in Voltashop, which it accepted.

In 1996, Arid arrived finally of a contest organized by the Flemish magazine Humo, which enabled them to be able to engrave a title on Cd " Rally" rock'n'roll; , offered with the magazine. In 1998, Little Things off Venom , the first album of the group was published, was produced by David Anderson (Edwyn Collins, Fine Young Cannibals). In this album collaborate Piet Goddaer of Ozark Henry and the Dewaele brothers of Soulwax. This album was published by Columbia in the United States under the title " At the closed off every day". Individual the " Too Late Tonight" was published in Belgium, before the group does not begin in a round with K' S Choice, Sweden or Counting Crows, like two triumphal appearances with the festival Rock Werchter (1999 and 2000). The group, supported by the Belgian radios, had a nice success with this album (25000 gold sales and disc in Belgium), which was republished a few months later accompanied by a MINOR ROAD 5 titles recorded with the Ancienne Belgium of Brussels. The other individual ones, " Believer" , " Me and My Melody" and " All Will Wait" permettèrent to maintain the group on the waves until the end of 2000. In 2001, Jasper Steverlinck appeared in the film IMAX " Haunted Castle".

In 2002 their second album " was published; All is Quiet Now" , preceded by individual the " You Are". The album, however equipped with beautiful text, was much calmer and less daring than their first opus. Moreover, badly distributed except Benelux (in importation in France), the disc did not accept that a success of regard. Individual the " Everlasting Change" was also published. Live followed the following year (" Arid Live" , DEC 2003), composed of pieces of the first two albums.

But Jasper had already the head elsewhere and collaborated initially in individual of Christmas of Das Pop " Merry Xmas (War is Over) " , then with the album of Ozark Henry on " Fatty Dear Widow".
