Largumentum AD crumenam or reason of the more riche' or, literally, the argument which makes use of the purse , is a fallacious reasoning which claims that a conclusion is true only because its subject is rich.

Example:

  • If you are so smart, why don't be you rich?
  • I think that Bernard Tapie is a model good, it is rich, it must thus make the things well.

This argument is particularly used in the mediums of art, films, the video games or the music. It takes the form: “You can always try to criticize X for its work, always is that with it gains several million euros, contrary with you. Your arguments will thus not count”. Such an argument approaches the proverb “criticism is easy, but difficult art”. It implies that any blame of a person having succeeded coming from a person having less success east impresses jealousy and that the richest people are most talented. The opposite argument is the Argumentum AD lazarum by which one considers that poorest suffer and are in catches with a real tragedy contrary to rich person living in the luxury and thus disconnected from the direction of realities.
