Argéades

The dynasty of Argéades (in Greek old οἱ Ἀργεάδαι/ hoi Argeádai ) is the family which reigned on the Macedonia, nation of the north of the Greece, 700 av. J. - C. with 309 av. J. - C..

According to Plutarque ( Moralia , 331), it goes down from Argéas, a general Macedonian. A tradition reduces them however from certain Téménos, wire of Héraclès and originating in the city of Argos. Its most famous members are Philippe II of Macedonia which unified the Greeks, and Alexandre Large the which demolished the Persian Empire and created its own empire. The line of Argéades died out at the time of the Guerres of diadoques the during which Alexandre IV of Macedonia and its mother Roxane was assassinated.
