Judgment
“Under the surface of the things, Larbi is the painter of their closed interior, of their more secret half-light. Images of transitory, as by a fault the glance enters a world where nothing never is stopped, where any form becomes deformed in continual to become. To approach the deaf duration it, Larbi MIME the dashes of geology, reproduces the movements of them. Its gestures slip into the natural impulses. “Concrete Painter”, it spreads, evaporates, recovers in layers, dissolves, digs, folds, pulverizes, powders: mix the tar, the adhesives and inks, clays and waxes, the lava and muds. The night with measurement runs and thickens, the matter is perforated out of dendrites at the edge of an attractive language, the light crystallizes in halations its first germinations.”
- O. Hadjari, " Arezki Larbi, Voyage at the end of the pierre" , in “Ruptures”, n°4, Algiers, 3 February 9th, 1993
