Areski Belkacem
Areski Belkacem , born the January 23rd 1940 with Versailles, is type-setter and musician multi-instrumentalist, but also actor and singer.
Friend of regiment of Jacques Higelin with which it records an album in 1969 (its voice appears in particular in the Remember song, of which it composed the music), Areski Belkacem meets Brigitte Fontaine in the Sixties. Since 1969, they assemble unit Niok, a mainly impromptu spectacle which remains months with the poster with the Theater of Lucernaire, in Paris. With the Theater of the Old man-Dovecote, the same year, it accompanies Brigitte Fontaine and Art Together off Chicago in As with the radio. In 1970, he is the hero of the feature-length film That goes, that comes from Pierre Barouh. At the same time, it composes of the musics for the director Peter Brook and also takes part in its spectacles as an actor within the framework of the International Center of Theatrical Research.
In the Seventies, the spectacles of the tandem Areski-Fountain mix theater and song. The Eighties are more difficult, in spite of the creation of Act 2, a part of Brigitte Fontaine which he interprets in duet with this one. The album French Corazon and the mini-tube the nougat devote in 1992 the back in favor of the musician. Since then, Areski Belkacem is always the principal type-setter of Brigitte Fontaine. He also collaborated with Barbara, Georges Moustaki, Jean-Claude Vannier and Sonic Youth, Inter alia.
Parallel to its activity in the field of the song, Areski Belkacem also signs with his/her son Ali Belkacem of the film musics ( gilded Jeunesse and With dead death, in particular) or of plays ( a transatlantic connection ). On an idea of Zep and Benoit Mouchart, it creates in 2005 the music of an innovative spectacle, the concerts of drawings which from now on are presented each year to the International festival of the cartoon of Angouleme and which propose creation, on line, on big screen and in music, of an original cartoon.
It currently prepares a new disc solo, its second from the exit of a beautiful morning (1970).
