Arenavirus

The Virus of the Arenavirus (of Latin arena (Sand): the granulous aspect of certain particles present inside the Cytoplasme of the infected cells - visible by Electron microscope - make think of sand) are a group of virus of the family of the known Bunyaviridae to be the agents of several hemorrhagic fevers striking down like:

  • the hemorrhagic Fever of Argentina

  • the hemorrhagic Fever of Bolivia
  • the hemorrhagic Fever of Brazil
  • the hemorrhagic Fever of Venezuela

The rats and the mice are the natural basin of these viruses (they are not touched by these human viruses, but they of it are carrying and can transmit it to the man).

The Arenavirus are extremely close to the Filovirus and they are sometimes gathered in the same family. One speaks then about the fevers of the Nouveau World and the fevers of the Old world (for the filovirus and a disease as the Fièvre of Wearied).
