Areas of the Czech Republic

The Czech Republic is a country resulting from the division of old the Czechoslovakia. Czechoslovakia was formerly divided into ten provinces: seven Czech provinces (five provinces of Bohemia and two of Moravie) and three Slovak provinces . Today, the Czech Republic is subdividée in 13 administrative areas ( kraj ) and the city-capital (Prague).

Old provinces of Bohemia

Bohemia was divided into five provinces:
  • Bohemia of North,
  • Western Bohemia,
  • Central Bohemia,
  • Eastern Bohemia and
  • Bohemia of the South.

Old provinces of Moravie

Moravie consisted of two provinces:
  • Moravie of North
  • Moravie of the South

14 current Czech areas

The Czech Republic is subdivided of 14 administrative entities, all identified by a code in the standard ISO 3166-2: CZ.
