Areas of Italy

The areas of Italy are twenty, of arrangements were arranged in the constitution of 1948 to ensure a certain autonomy the areas. However, five areas (Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Sardinia, Sicily, Trentin-Haut-Adige and Valley of Aoste) have a widened autonomy. Each area is provided with a District council which exerts the legislative powers suitable for the area and a regional Junte ( Giunta Regionale ) which is the executive organization of the area. The Giunta is responsible in front of the council and must resign if it does not obtain the confidence of the council. This structure is thus similar to the system of the government of the country.
