The are (symbol has ) is a unit of measurement of Superficie. It is a unit apart from the international Système (IF): the unit SO of measurement of the surfaces is the Square meter (m ²).
An are is equivalent 100 m ² , that is to say a square of ten Mètre S on side.
The are is only not very used; one often uses on the other hand in the everyday life one of his multiples, the Hectare (1 ha = 100 has = 10 000 m ²), it is besides the only used multiple of the are. The subdivisions of the are not used, except the Centiare (1 Ca = 0,01 has = 1 m ²), which is however of use little running, except in the notarial acts.
