Ardes is a common French, located in the department of the Puy-de-Dôme and the area Auvergne.

The inhabitants of the commune name the Ardoisiens and Ardoisiennes .

The official name of the commune is and remains Ardes . One notes however the frequent use, even within the administrations, of a name of use Ardes-on-Couze .

Formerly property of the family of Mercœur. The canton underwent a strong exodus with the XIXe century.
