Arcul de Triumf

Arcul de Triumf is a Triumphal arch located in the northern part of Bucharest, on the street Kiseleff.

The first triumphal arch was quickly set up out of wood after the access of the Romania to independence (1878) in order to make there ravel the victorious troops. Another provisional arc succeeded to him on the same site in 1922, after the First World War. Destroyed in 1935, it was replaced by the current triumphal arch, inaugurated in September 1936.

Of a 27 meters height, Arcul de Triumf was built by the architect Petre Antonescu on foundations of 25 m by 11,50 Mr. Of the sculptures carried out by famous Rumanian artists such as Ion Jalea and Dimitrie Paciurea decorates the frontages.
