Arcs of Claude

The three arcs of Claude (Arcus Claudii) were built to commemorate its victories against the cruel people.

One of the arcs of Claude was in the beginning one of the vaults of the Aqueduc of Virgo which was reconstituted monumentalement by Claude in the year 46 a. J. - C. It was located at the foot of the Quirinal close to the Forum Suarium This arc is still today upright.

Another arc was built by Claude towards 51 a. J. - C. and 52 a. J. - C. to commemorate its victory in Brittany. It also made party of the Aqueduc of Virgo, and spanned the Latin Voie on the Champ de Mars. It collapsed in the neighborhoods of the VIIe century.

The last arc would have been built in the honor of the victories of Claude against the Germains.
