Archelon
The Archelons form one of Tortue marinades disappeared with the Campanien when a not very deep sea covered the major part of the Central America and North. It is the largest turtle which lived forever. The largest fossil of Archelon, was found by Pierre Shale in South Dakota in the years 1970.
Description
This tortoise does not have plates of horn (nondiscovered) and their bones are crenelated. It is thought that it is related with current the Tortues lutes. Without teeth, it was to be vegetarian or to nourish jellyfishes.

Species
The fossils of Archelon ischyros found reveal that this species could measure 4 to 4,5 m and to have an estimated weight of 2200 kilograms. A specimen is visible with the Naturhistorisches Museum of Vienna. The specimens discovered most recently were it in 1996 and 1998.
