Archduke
Archduke (in German: Erzherzog ), (with the Female : archduchess ), is a princely Titer , reserved to the only members of the Maison of Austria.
In the past it was carried only by the chief of this house, which did not have yet the royal crowns of Hungary and Bohemia and the imperial crown of the Holy roman Empire.
This title goes back to 1156, but only after the promulgation of the Bulle of Gold in 1356 was hereditary, and by the voter S only into 1 was recognized 453. Since then all the members of the house of Austria carry the title of archduke or archduchess of Austria , with the predicate of imperial and royal Highness. They carry moreover the titles of prince or royal princess of Bohemia and Hungary .
There were also archdukes in Austrasie (under Dagobert), in Lorraine and in the the Brabant. archduke|Archduke
