The majority of the catholic priests of Moscow were not born in Russia and the situation remains difficult for the Catholic church in this area of the world. The oecumenical Dialog with the Russian orthodoxe Église is necessary to the every day to ensure social peace.
The parish Saint-Louis-of-French was a long time the only catholic parish of Moscow during the Soviet era. The catholics were to hide before, but today the masses are celebrated twenty-seven time per day in twelve languages. The December 8th 1991, last day of the Soviet Union, was also the Fête of the Immaculate-Design.
This archdiocese has two churches, of which the Cathédrale of the Immaculate-Design of Moscow. Often, the parishioners must celebrate the mass inside the American and German embassies. Many gréco-catholics, members of the Church Russian gréco-catholic, are attached to the archdiocese, which is devoted to the Virgin Mary.
The young people are active in this diocese but the Russian Loi recognizes with difficulty the parishes and the religious communities. Several organizations are active, of which the Focolari, the Chemin néocatéchuménal, Communion and release and Caritas.
Russia is often associated with the events of Fátima. Lucia back Santos was delighted in 1991 by meeting the new Russian apostolic administrator. In 2004, the pope and the patriarch Alexis II exchanged wishes of peace while recovering the Icône from Kazan.
