Archdiocese of Durban

The metropolitan archdiocese of Durban is one of the four archdioceses of South Africa; it is located in the South-east of the country. Its seat is with Durban, the second city of the country by the number of inhabitants, located in the province of the KwaZulu-Native .

The suffragan dioceses are Dundee, Eshowe, Kokstad, Mariannhill, Umtata and Umzimkulu. It was set up in archdiocese the January 11th 1951, starting from the apostolic vicariate of the Native one.

The current archbishop is Mgr Wilfrid Fox Napier, which has as an auxiliary bishop Mgr Barry Wood.
