Archéométallurgie
The archéométallurgie is the Science which studies the manufactoring processes of the lic objects Métal in the preindustrial companies.
This science tries to include/understand how were manufactured the metal objects since the Préhistoire (Âge of copper, Bronze Age, Âge of iron) until the Moyen-âge. It uses for that:
- all modern instruments of analysis of the metallurgy (Micrography, electronic Microscopy…) to characterize the structure of metals and to try to find the manufactoring processes (in particular impurities signing the source of the ore and the treatments of refinement, the crystallographic structure allowing to know the temperature of work…) ;
- archaeological excavations, and in particular remains around the metallurgy workshops (remains of furnaces, moulds…) ;
- transmitted knowledge of word of mouth until now in some Corporation S, in particular founders of Bell S.
