Arcachon

Arcachon (in Gascon Occitan Arcaishon ) is a seaside resort, located in the department of the the Gironde and the area Aquitaine. It belongs to the historical area of the Gascogne. Its inhabitants is called the Arcachonnais .

Geography

Arcachon is a Seaside resort located in the department of the the Gironde, in the middle of the Landes of Gascogne, in Pays of Buch. Wedged in the commune of Tests It of Buch, it is prolonged towards the south of the littoral by the Pyla-sur-Mer.

Arcachon is made up of four districts called of the " Villes" (in addition to the famous Town of Winter, it also includes/understands a Town of Spring, a Town of Summer and a Town of Fall) for which it is advisable to add Abatilles and Moulleau.

Etymology

" Arcachon" comes from the Gascon Arcaishon .

The exact etymology is discussed.
