Arc-under-Cicon

Arc-under-Cicon is a common French, located in the department of the Doubs and the area Franche-Comté.

Geography

Located in bottom of basin, Arc-under-Cicon is dominated by the Crêt Moniot, which culminates with 1147 meters.

History

Village created with the XIe century, it draws its name from the lord of Cicon, first lord of the village. It had to souffir wars of the modern time which opposed the Empire to the kingdom of France.

Places and monuments

  • Church
The church, which is next to imposing common Maison, had a bell-tower comtois formerly. Destroyed by the lightning, this bell-tower is not visible any more today.
  • the Castle
Old residence of second half of the XVIIe century, it belonged to the family of the Doroz. It is one of the two castles represented on the armorial bearings of the commune, the second being that of Cicon, destroyed with the XVe century.
