The grounds of the commune are sprinkled by the Gave d' Oloron (affluent of the Gave of Pau) and by its tributary, the Lausset.Two affluents of the brook of Harcellane (tributary of Lausset), Cassou dou Mud and the brook of Lescuncette, also cross the commune.

History
Paul Raymond note which the commune counted a laic abbey, vassal of the Viscount of Béarn.In 1385, Araux counted 27 fires and was a dependence of the baronnie of Jasses.
