Aranjuez

Aranjuez is a town of Spain, located at 44 km in the south of Madrid on left bank of Tage.

This city (known for its culture of the strawberry) is favourable with agriculture by its good ground and its irrigation ensured by 2 rivers, Tage and Jarama. On one of them a small river port is built. The climate is continental, therefore not very wet, very cold in winter and very heat in summer. The dwellings of its 50000 inhabitants are limited on 2 floors. The structure of the city is square and goes back to Charles III.

The principal places to visit are:

  • arenas, remarkably preserved
  • the Palais Royal, built on the order of Philippe II, 1561 with 1778.

Aranjuez is celebrated by a concerto for guitar and orchestra: the Concerto of Aranjuez.
